Settle with the original creditor?

Thanks for all the help this forum provides. After researching my credit, I have found 3 different neg checks from Midland Credit Management. I have chosen to take care of at least the largest one, if indeed they are 3 different debts.
My question is, should I just go straight to First National Bank since they are still holding the debt and skip the midland negotiating process? Also, Im sure that the one debt thru midland is legit, as the acct. number matches the real debt. But I am unsure of the other 2, should I start sending verification letters immediately?

Hi nosensegrafix,
Of course (on both counts). Try to deal with the OC, and send DV letters for any debt that you doubt. If the OC has actually sold the account to the CA, then they will tell you that and you would have to work with the CA directly.
