A debt collection agency calling me for paying the bill

Hi & welcome! this post probably should be in another part of the forum where it will be seen better for more help. Is the debt throught the school or a loan? I know that there is deferrments on some school loans for hardship - this may be what you need to do, because I do beleive that school loans are different than other loans. You were a minor at the time that the bill was incurred. As such, they cannot legally pursue you for it. Minors cannot legally have such debts, as far as I recall. They are trying to get paid, and in their eyes, money from your pocket is just as green as money from your mother's wallet is. But the law does not allow them to simply assign one person's debt to another at will, regardless of your age. The debt was originated by your mother, and that is where their efforts are supposed to be directed.

What state do you live in, by the way? Depending on your state, I have two possible remedies for you.

I agree with sky, since u were a minor u are legally not bound or able to sign into a contract! PERIOD. SO legally they can NOT make u pay this debt!
