Hi,

I am very concerned about a recent transaction that I made to clear an outstanding account up, that I had. I need some advice PLEASE.
I had an unsecured credit card that I was behind on, due to loss of a job. I was receiving letters from the company stating I was behind and that if not paid the account would be reviewed for referral to an attorney or collection agency. I was making what payments I could, and when I could. Apparently that was not enough; the credit card company sent it to an attorney anyway.

I received a call one day from a guy named Jeb Branson in the office of Jay P Frye. He was very nice an understanding about my situation. Stated he was willing to try to help however he could. He offered me 3 different ways to pay it. All of which were reduced settlement offers. I elected to take the lump sum payoff and try to clear my name and save my credit. I DID ASK HIM IF THIS WOULD CLEAR BOTH........HE SAID YES!!!

I called, when I borrowed more money, to pay that account. Again, asking him how long it would take to clear and the creditor be notified and my credit report reflected. I was told by Jeb, that it should clear in about 30 days.

It has now been 60 days, and my credit report shows "charged off" to that creditor. I called that creditor to find out if they show the payment anywhere in their system or documentation of any of this. They do not!!! I have tried now to call Jeb Branson at the law firm multiple times and he will not return my calls.

More so, I had 2 interviews last week with a company that I would like to work for. I was told that they would not be able to move forward due to this delinquency on my credit report!!

I am furious and truly think that $6000.00 of my money was just stolen. What do I do? Do I have rights in this situation??
PLEASE HELP WITH ADVICE.

Thanks,
G

How did you make the payment?? Have you gotten a copy of the transaction?? Have you tried going over the collectors head to a supervisor or a manager?? Have you talk to the credit card company to let them know you made the payment on such and such a date?? YOU need to start taking action...get on the phone and stay on the phone until you get answers.

Hate to tell you, but your credit will NOT be cleared. It will be reflected as a paid charge off/collection. The collector should not have been making promises like that...but since you probably dont have anything in writing, it would be a moot point.
