Hi. I have been going through the Loan Modification process with M & I Bank. I received the Foreclosure notice after I started it. I talked with the lady that was helping me and she ask me if I could handle paying a bit more to make up for what I was behind and the fees. I said that I could. She said she would have the attorneys draw up the papers and get them to me when they were completed. It took about two weeks and I just received them Wednesday. It states that I need to send in $1614.00 to pay the legal fees and that this needs to be paid by June 22. I then have to have the first payment of $1049.18 to M&I Bank by July 3rd. If I don't get the first payment to them they may proceed with the pending foreclosure action.
I don't have $2700.00 dollars. This is when I usually get myself in trouble and do something stupid. Instead I am asking you all what I should do.
Any advice would be very appreciated.
They aren't increasing my term or lowering my interest rate.
Is there a reputable mortgage company that might allow someone with poor credit to refinance?
Thanks,
Michelle

It doesn't sound like they put you in a loan modification program...I would call them back and verify this...and if they haven't, tell them you wan the mod program...(It sounds like the collections department just amortized your back mortgage amount and spread it over x amount of months.)

What I have seen is in a mod program, they will add all past due amounts - including attorney fees - into the "new" loan and amortized it over the entire loan period.

Who's the loan mod thru - your current lender? If so, I would call back and speak with a manager.
