harrassing calls - National City bank
Date: Wed, 06/18/2008 - 12:50
1.National City bank called my neighbor and told them to give me a message about an unpaid credit card bill
2.Today there was a call from a payday loan company telling me that they are pressing felonly charges against me and that the next notice I will be given is from the sheriff dept enforcing the law and that I will be going to prison for 2 years...
Are these calls legal and is there anything I can do about them? I would pay them but being out of work have no income to pay anything...

hello,two questions.
1)did the pdl collector have a thick foreign accent
2)what was on the caller id at your friends house.
the second place sounds like allied interstae.
the pdl i wouldn't worry about, chances are you paid it in full and these creeps are trying to make
a fast buck.try to get a look at your caller id
it will help us help you.no what both did isn't legal or right.

No the collectors were American accents. It wasn't a friends house they looked through the phone book till they found someone who lived on the same street and called them, it's not someone I really even know it was just National City bank calling someone else on my street to get to me..
The Pay day loan, I had paid one off in full and took out another one, I had been making payments on it but after I lost my job couldn't and had my bank account closed. The message was
This is lesley spencer from ameriloan ... I am contacting you about a wire transfer across state lines which has not been paid and is a felony punishable by a huge fine and 2 years in prison and call me back at 18006547444 before the sheriff knocks on your door..
It's a message I have saved on my answering machine...

If it's ameriloan, chances are they aren't licensed in your state anyway. I would save that recording, because you might be able to make some money off it--and don't worry about Ameriloan. You are NOT going to jail.
oops
Sorry my bad it's paydayloanyes... Just listened to it again.. I can not believe the tactics they use especially calling neighbors to collect debts. It would be nice if they tried to work with me till I find regular income but guess that's out of the question...

paydayloan-yes usn't going to be licensed either,in fact they got slammed to the tune of 250,000.00 in illinois.file complaints with the IL AG also the BBB and the FTC.besides MTE this is one of the biggest pdl offenders in this country.i would check your state laws about recording calls,as it varies state to state.

Worst bank in my history. ON one payment that isnt even 30 days late they have called more than 30 times I think Each time I tell them to quit. This sunday, already 5 calls from them.
A horrible, dispicable bank. I would never do business with them again. They are responsible for destroying the banking industry, taking my ability to work and taking away the rental value of the house on which they have a mortgage, And they have the nerve to hold me responsible for the payments.

I just received a call regarding a National City Visa past due account. The charge was made the end of July and we have never received a bill. They are adding on the interest and a late fee. This is not the first time this has happened with National City. I cancelled the credit card once because of this. My husband had received another card and this was the first time he had used the new card. When I called the the number on the back of the card to pay the bill they want to charge an additional fee to pay the bill if you are not using a National City account. This company does not send out the monthly statements and then charges you a late fee and interest. Once this bill is paid I will cancel the credit card and NEVER DEAL WITH NATIONAL CITY EVER AGAIN.

I used to work for National City Collections for the Visa, Mastercard and unsecured loan department. I quit for this exact reason. I was only working there because it was guaranteed income while I went to the university that was close by. (this was 2004-2005) I was told that I wasn't being "shady" enough when trying to find the people in my account book that we could not get ahold of; at this point I quit on the spot. We didn't actually look in the phone book. We were given a few programs to use to find family members and neighbors to try to get in contact with customers who never answered our calls or returned the messages we left. I hated doing it because we had to pretend we were some sort of long lost friend or cousin that we couldn't get in touch with. I spoke with a lot of customers who said they never received their bills as well, and I was probably the only one who believed them. We checked your credit. We checked the funds and last three months of debit card history if you banked with national city as well. It was just too much privacy invasion for me. I've been in collections with companies before, and none of them ever treated me the way I was told to treat people I was trying to collect from when I worked there. I don't bank with Nat City, and I tell all my friends and family not to, as well.

Out of work & got behind on my car payments. Nat City sent it to collections ~ CCS. I was able to borrow the money, but when I contacted Nat City, they directed me to CCS, who I have never received anything from. I telephoned them & spoke to someone who I made a verbal agreement with, and said that he would mail me the agreement right away, and that when payment was made, my title would be sent. I foolishly gave him my bank acct info, and agreed to an electronic payment at the end of the month. Of course the paperwork never arrived, so I had my bank put a stop payment on the electronic check. I really want to pay my vehicle off, but I do not trust this collection agency. Any suggestions? Thanks.
