Has anyone heard of National Credit Recovery? I am receiving calls from
a man name Brian Jones threatening me with a warrant for my arrest.
Apparently it has something to do with a payday loan I once had. I called
back and left my name and asked to provide me with some info on this
so call loan. Can anyone suggest what I should do?
Thanks

Correction It is called National Credit Enforcement

You CAN'T be arrested for owing a debt! DON'T give them ANY further information about yourself over the phone. NEVER EVER admit to owing a debt to a voice on the phone, and NEVER EVER give out any of your personal account information to a voice on the phone. If these people are for real (and I doubt they are), tell them you will be expecting a letter of collection via the mail within 5 days of their first initial contact with you, that is a federal law (FDCPA) and applies to third party collectors.

As per my knowledge, National Credit Enforcement is a collection agency of Atlanta. But, I really doubt if the person, Brian Jones, has called you from the same company.

Regarding threats to get you arrested, you can never be arrested for owning a debt. This is a civil matter and not a criminal one. Refrain yourself from giving any information to anyone over the phone other than your name.

Send them a Cease and Desist letter stating that you don't want to receive any further collection calls and all communications should be through mail. Mention that it's under the Federal law and that they must comply with it. I think your collection calls will cease if you take the steps I've mentioned.

I too have had to deal with these "people". I sent them 2 Cease and Desist letters and they ignored them until I had a lawyer contact them. They refuse to send you ANYTHING in writing and insist that you pay them IMMEDIATELY or they will have you arrested for "bad check(s)". Now I found out that the particular debt (CashNet USA) is owned by 3 different collection agencies, none of who will send me anything in writing to verify that they own it!!!

I got the same call. Called them back and gave them hell. When he decided to curse me out because I threatened to sue him. I called about 15 more times just to piss him off. Was your guy Indian?
