Is debt settlement offer a scam?

I have received an offer from Nationwide Credit, Inc. for a debt reduction that is 5/6ths of the total debt! As the debt is significant, the offer is phenomenal...also a little bit too good to be true. It says the total balance can be settled for this offered amount. This balance comes from the second mortgage on my home which was forclosed. They list the creditor name as Ols-Naac 2007-S2. I don't understand that code at all! However they do have my foreclosed property address listed correctly.
They have sent me over the past year a few debt reduction offers.....NONE with an offer that was anywhere near this. Most were just $5,000 or $7,000 off the bill.
I have just read some online threads about Nationwide Credit, Inc. being somewhat disreputable. Roxanne, Is this too good to be true?
