My mom had added me to her American Express when i turned 18 and came to college. I used it for 2 years for study abroad and groceries etc. After I paid off my charges with my babysitting money my mom closed my cards. that was in may. Now she is having financial problems because she was between jobs. She just started a new job and isn't allowed to make the minimum payments anymore. Now NCO is calling me and harassing me and hanging up and yelling at me. My mother and I have told them numerous times that have nothing to do with the accounts. Why do they have my SSN? Amex and NCO keep on giving my mom the run around about removing my info. Today the NCO caller threatened to sue me and told me i better get a good lawyer! Can they do this?

I had NCO threatening me also. With all sorts of stuff. Some of their collectors are #$%*s, and they wouldn't listen to anything I had to say. They kept interrupting, and called me names. When I said I lived in a small town and jobs were hard to find, I was called lazy. I am in a settlement program, and I told them they had to go through my settlement company, and I have caller ID so I just stopped talking to them. (Caller ID is the most important investment someone in a debt settlement program can make.) The Chase account was eventually settled at 20% about a month after I wouldn't talk to them any more, but I think it was with Chase directly - I believe they got the account back in-house when NCO couldn't collect. They're just bullies.
