Hi citizens of the State of New Jersey!

On June 4 the New Jersey Fair Debt Collection Practices Act was approved by the State Assembly committee. They are hoping to have it approved by this Fall, and Approved by the Senate by the end of the year. If passed as is, it would impose a maximum penalty of $10,000 for the 1st offense and a maximum of $20,000 for the 2nd.
It would be the strictest protections for debtors in the nation.
I urge New Jersey debtors to immediately write to their Assembly person, their Senator, and their Congressperson and demand that this bill be passed into Law. It was originally introduced to the Assembly LAST YEAR (06/16/08). There are well-paid industry lobbyists who will be actively fighting this, not to mention all the reports of New Jersey Municipal Court judges being in the pockets of unethical law firm debt collectors. So it is **vitally important** for the People to raise their voices as one!
