Hi Guest,
They probably meant that they know own the account. Capital One wrote it off as bad debt.
Did you get anything in writing about the payment plan?

trying to collect a debt that has already been settled
you are trying to collect a debt that has already been settled and disputed on me. the debt that you are trying to collect was settled in full with capital one 9 years ago after proving that the card was obtained by someone stealing my identity. i have contestedf this a couple of times and am getting tired of doing it. the original debt was 250.00 dollars and was settled in full and the card quickly canceled i think that your company needs to investigate the debts that they buy befor they try and collect them. the indevidual that stole my identity is now serving time in prison for theft fraud and identity theft. not to mention that the suposid 1700 dollar dept that i settled 1500 of it is fees. i have no intention of ever paying this debt which was settled and was never mine and i am seeking leagal counsel on persuing punitive damages against capital one as well as anyone associated with capital one on their buisness practices and fraudulent debts. it wouldnt be the first law suit against them one of which was a class action which was settled im sure they dont want another for the same thing

Final Appealable Order Northstar Capital Acquisition
I had a Capital One Credit card with a credit limit of $300.00
I had a balance of $265.00 when I had to stop making payments due to some very serious financial problems.... In Oct. 2008 I received a letter from Northstar Capital that they were taking me to court for this old debt... They had a copy of the credit agreement that I signed in 2000... They are trying to get 2,800.00 now... I was in court for the final hearing July 22,2009... My argument was that statute of limitations was up ( 6 years ) The judge told me it was 15... I told them I had no means to pay this kind of money.... I got a letter back.. What does FINAL APPEALABLE ORDER MEAN ??? I am at my wits end and ready to just quit everything... My finances are a mess.. My husband had open heart surgery 2 years ago so we have medical bills and medicine to buy.. He he gets 500.00 for social security and between us we made $25,000.00 last year... I am paying on old sales tax from a business I had closed in 2001.. I am 3 months behinf on my mortgage... Payment are 600.00 month...... ANy on e have any suggestions as to what to do... I had to represent myself in court and now I think I maybe screwed !!
