If he lowers the payment further, then you may contact your friends or relatives and check if they can help you in paying it off. Though you've mentioned that there's nobody you can borrow from, I will suggest you to speak to your friends and you never know someone might agree to help you.

Fact of the matter is you are unemployed. Your basic living expenses come first. NRS is a collection agency, not a law office....they cannot take legal action. Only an attorney in your state can sue you.
