I receieved a call from a number that was not readable on my caller it said no number. The person left a voicemail saying there name was jennifer white and they had a complaint against me for bad checks. thing is only checks i write are for rent and none have ever bounced.. kinda strange the person said that.. she said she had a case number etc..and that it was my responisblity to respond and also she was going verfity my employment and address to serve me.

i can tell you right now it is for a pdl as only a piece of dirt collecting for one would bring up the "bad check"threat.btw check fraud is a crime and owing a pdl is not.also an ACH debit is not a check.use the message to file a police report asap.then to confirm their bottomfeeder status check the case number on your court clerk's website.once that is established ignore further calls from this jennfier.

to confirm their scam status check your court clerk's website.i know a few that tried this with me.giving me a eight digit number.the only problem.in my county all case numbers are five digits so she gave you a case number.that means nothing.i guarantee she,or another humanoid from whatever bottomfeeder they scam for will call again.it does strike me odd that she would leave that stupidity without a callback number.weird.

you see.that is what doesn't make a lick of sense.i too had the ramble tamble as they gave the case number, but the callback number was clear as a bell.i would just wait and see if there is a follow up to this.something in me says that this hag is too stupid to realize she did not give a callback number, but wait and see for now.

another thing that was scary to me is that when i called the company and hung up.. I immediately received a call from a no number I answered thinking it was the company and it was a man with a heavy indian accent saying he needed a massage with strong hands .. it freaked me out.. I called the 1877 number again and as soon as i got off the phone the same thing happened again a no number called me.

One thing to keep in mind is that they triggered their own statutory obligation in that call. They probably did more harm to themselves than to you, if they are legit.

By calling and identifying themselves and stating that you owe a debt, and additionally stating that it is notice assumed to have been received by you, that is, in my opinion, unquestionably an "intitial communication with the consumer." That triggered their requirement under FDCPA 809(a) to send you a formal, written collection (dunning) notice within 5 days of that call. Apparently, they did not do that.

So, that call appears to have now placed them in violation of FDCPA 809(a) by not timely informing you in writing of their identity, the identity of the OC, the amount of the debt, and of your DV rights and how to DV them.

It is strong indication to me that they are not a legitimate debt collector, and are not complying with the FDCPA. If they call again, just inform them to conduct all communication with you in writing. Dont demand cessation of calls, as they may try to contort that into an excuse for not sending dunning notice. Let them kill themselves.

i suggest the OP check their state laws in regards to recording calls.if they are in a one party state.they don't have to tell this wormslime that they are recording.then they can nail these losers.btw their is a scamming bottomfeeder using the prudential name.last thing the line about not giving you any info for "security reasons" is an insult and a GD lie.the only reason he won't give any real info is because he would be i jail himself,or sued out of existence.only a complete piece of dirt scam says things like that.check your state laws about recording calls and nail the SOB.

You sound like your on the write track already. Getting advice when an unknown debt collector calls you like that is a good idea. Even if you aren't being scammed. Some can't even legally collect the debt they are speaking of. If you need any more questions answered you can check this site out deleted..pm

no soliciting per TOS rules.btw your spelling is horrible...pm

Samething, guy calls himself Rick Johnson, will not stop calling. The company calls themselve Prudential, but you cannot pull up anything on the phone number 1-877-887-3026. I will do a police report ASAP as I cannot report them to the BBB; will also submit their phone number to the FTC.

I received a call initially from a restricted number. The man stated he was a hired located firm hired by an attorney because a formal complaint had been filed against me. He gave me the telephone number 1-877-888-9107 and a reference number. When I called, a guy answered the phone stating they were Prudential (financing or lending) and they had a formal complaint for a bad check owed to Summitt Lending. He stated I owed $650, $200 of that was legal fees and that they could remove the legal fees, reduce the debt to $357 and even make monthly payment arragements! yay for them!! but they kept stating they would take payments instead of going forward with the legal process, but would not give me any attorney information! anybody know how to verify if they are a collection company or what? i specifically asked if they were a CA but they said no we are working for an attorney with a formal complaint against you.....any advice?

in most states collectors must be licensed in that state to pursue a collection account.even if they are attorney's.btw file AG complaints asap as this place calling themselves prudential smacks of complete bottomfeeding scam.next time they call demand something in writing and state you will not speak to them again until you get it.then follow through with that.
