I have figured out why I am being sued for the wrong account by the collection agency. I found through the chain of colleciton agencies where and when the account number changed. The account number for my credit card account changed on my credit report and with the collection agencies when the account was "sold" by the original creditor. Is this normal practice for the original creditor to change the account number (and change it on your credit report) before they sell it?
