What is the relationship between an OC and a CA if a CA 'buys a debt' ... in other words BofA told me they sold their debt to a CA. Both BofA and the CA appear on my CR (bofA as charge off)...if i pay off the CA will both be marked as paid?

CA's don't buy debts. Junk Debt Buyers buy debts and either collect with anohter subsidiary of their company (LVNV and Resurgent) or sub it out to another 3rd party collector. At that point both the OC and CA (JDB) can report on your credit reports. The CA has no say in BofA's tradeline and can not change it. Both must come off at 7.5 years from the Date of First Default per the FCRA
