Payment made to the OC, should I contact the CA?? Help!!

After recently reviewing my credit report, I’ve noticed an account from a debt collector in California in reference to a dental bill from 2001 (I live in California). I truly wasn’t aware of this remaining balance as I had health insurance at the time. Anyway, the original amount is $80; they’re charging me $145 due to fees and interest since 2001. I’ve contact the dental office today and I agreed to pay them directly. The dental office contacted the CA – the debt collector told the dental office to notify them as soon as payment was maid and that in order to take the account from my credit report I would have to contact them. I don’t want to call any CA!! What should I do?? Should I send a letter to the CA with a copy of the paid receipt from the OC and demand that they remove the account from my credit report??
Thank you in advance for your advice!

Send them a copy of the paid letter. They aren't required to remove it from your credit report but they are required to update it as paid.

This account is estimated to be removed from my credit report on 5/08. So, does it matter if they remove or not? And if they update as paid, will it shown on my report that the account was once negative for 9 years and then paid for?
Thanks FYI!!
