Collector Called my Office
Date: Wed, 02/10/2010 - 10:20
She identified herself as "Miss Tanya" and demanded I or my lawyer call her back immediately and reference a file number when returning the call.
I plan on responding to the call today on my lunch break. However, I thought collection agencies (or any company for that matter) was supposed to identify their company name and their name in the message they leave for you?
All other collection agencies (the ones who seem to follow the rules) always call, leave their name, the company name, a reference number and that the call is an attempt to collect a debt and any information obtained will be used for the purpose only...

i'm guessing bottomfeeder.do not call this person back.they only want to try and scare money out of you with illegal threats.what number did they give as a call back?what number came up on caller id?
There is no requirement for a CA or collection attorney to leave
There is no requirement for a CA or 1 to leave a company name in a message. In fact in a lot of case the company name could be considered disclosure...."BCR" Bureau of Collection Recovery. All they are suppose to do is leave a name and phone number.

of course, but the part about them or their lawyer.alot of threads and posts start out that way,and it usually involves threats of fraud and arrest,or maybe it's just the cynic in me.i just think something is up.

When I called back (I couldn't help myself out of sheer curiosity and it was my work phone and I handle accounting for the company so it could have been a vendor).
The girl didn't identify their company, she didn't give me the "mini miranda". It seemed as if she was pretending to be a lawyers assistant and said "this is regarding a bally's account, they want to know if you want to settle out of court?" as if she were talking about bally's wanting to know if I wanted to settle out of court.
I've been researching the company. The company is MRSI (Maximum Recovery Solutions Inc.). From what I have found - they are bottom feeders.
I asked for a signed copy of the contract and the girl informed me they don't have those records. What kind of a lawyers office doesn't have those records in the matter of a possible lawsuit?! BS!
I am laughing....I googled them and they are using a free GoDadd
I am laughing....I googled them and they are using a free GoDaddy website! http://www.maximumrecoverysolutions.com/collectionsvcs.html
Send a letter in writing via CMRRR...tell them to bug off and crawl back under their rock.

Yeah, I saw that laugh night. Reading some of the things they have done to people is pretty interesting in its own. They even have former collectors of their writing reviews on them.
They claim to have a lawyer on site, Mr. Eli Zev Ilionski (I ended up googling him too). I would be a bit embarrassed to be associated with them if I were him. Furthermore, wouldn't he counsel them in HOW they are supposed to act when calling a debtor and WHAT they are not allowed to claim when threatening people?
Sad.
