contact original creditor and only make arrangements with them--if you dispute it doesn't matter--will still keep showing up on credit report--because each time --the person you supposedly owe money to has different name and different amount than what you originally supposedly owed-- only deal with original creditor --do the research and I think you will know this is the answer! not an expert only an observer trying to offer my opinion

If NCO owns the debt then there is no dealing with the creditor anymore. If it is no longer with Allied and with NCO and is showing it is with Allied then you should be able to dispute it off of your credit report because they won't be able to verify the claim.
How long has it been with NCO now? Is it recent? CA's, those that do report, have a reporting cycle and it may not have hit that cycle yet to take it off. Either way it should be easy to get removed.

NCO isn't bad to deal with, they dropped the amount of a debt for me and made reasonable payment arrangements. Then when it was all said and done they sent me a paid in full letter. I sent it on to the credit reporting agency, I think they did too. I have dealt with several collection agencies and this one was one of the better ones to deal with. Just my experience with them. Goodluck with this one.

I'm glad to hear they are good to work with, fedupinpa. I have an account with them that I am planning on trying to work a settlement with at the beginning of the year. It isn't a large amount, so I am hoping to get a decent settlement. I just hope it isn't sold again to some unreasonable agency.
Also, I'm glad to hear that some of the things can be disputed on my credit report. I have several things that are reported inaccurately (such as old ca's still reporting, even though the account isn't with them anymore) I have alot of work ahead of me and am so glad I will FINALLY be in a position to start on this soon. Pdls really kicked my butt this year and I have had to take some time to recover and get other things back on track.

eleroo I'm rooting for you in your effort to climb up that hill--at a recent function I attended-- a psychology professor at local university told me he believes that something happened during the 80's-- where a generation developed who doesn't take responsibility for anything --instead blames all their problems on everyone else--I conceded to this but added that what has happened since the 80's is also a generation of people who are defrauding criminalizing and taking advantage of innocent people--that they have no conscience and expect others to bow down to them who still have a conscience doesn't make since to me--but good luck to getting back on track! I wish you the best in your efforts!

eleroo,
I would not contact them until you are ready to pay them something, with all collection agencies as soon as they speak to you, they want money. If you can't do anything until the beginning of the year, wait till then to initiate contact. Haven't they tried to contact you yet? How long have they had your account? Just wondering, hopefully they will still have it when you are ready to deal with it. goodluck and keep us posted on what happens. By the way they are pretty easy to settle out with, but what ever they offer, always ask if they can do a little better, it may knock a few more bucks off.
Hey fedupinpa I just noticed you are a mod, congrats! :)
