Hello All,

I had a student loan which was referred to OSI collections in February 2008. I received a bill from State of MD saying I owed $1745 on my past due student loan. I reviewed the letter and matched it up with my schools letter recently, a lil diff due to added interest. So I am ok with that. OSI collections is also saying my balance is $1745. I have no problem with that since I owe the past due debt. So there is my validation. I spoke to a account rep at OSI and they said I could do a 6 month repayment plan of $290 monthly. No problem with that either. I know OSI has a satisfactory rating with the BBB. I also have dealt with them in the past and have had no problems. For precaution, I have opted to mail my payments rather than them draft my bank. What do you think all?

I think that is great that they are able to work with you 8) . No all collection agencies are bad and we only hear about the bad ones and very rarely here about the good ones. I am glad that you were able to work something out with them. Just remember to keep them updated if something should happen and you aren't able to make your payments on time.

Thanks Ladybug, I have read some negative bug about OSI Collections on this forum, but I believe it is just who you talk to and handles your account. I will be paying them for a government debt, so there is little room for them to make error in my balance. I have gotten verification letters from them stating which account was reffered and how much interest was applied an so on. It was all in guidlines after I researched it, and it all matched interest charhed by the state of MD. I figure pay what you owe and be done with it!
