Debtors, stop stealing food from my familys table

Are you kidding me? Get a respectable job! You, my friend, are collecting debts from companies that prey on consumers by raising the interest rates to the point of where they are unable to get out of debt! I have a card that is at 39.99%, and of course the finance change is far greater than the payment required! I always pay over my minimum, and almost twice for finance charges! CRIMINAL!
So, the next time you feel the need to butt your opinions on a site and claim we are stealing from you, maybe you should consider what YOU do for a living! (are you the CEO of these large banks?) No one is stealing dog from you brother, you need to humble yourself into a better line of work if you are only earning a "meager" existence to provide for your babies mouths'.

Well now we know what they do all day besides harrassing people...they read our forums. That's good to know.

In all seriousness though, if you are having such a hard time supporting all of your babies, perhaps you should find a more respectable career that allows you to put food on the table. The people in this forum are struggling to overcome debt, not turn their backs on it. They are facing it head on and trying to make good on past mistakes. Some things may have been out of their hands (unemployment, medical bills) and some may have been due to ignorance of financial matters (running up credit cards, lack of budgeting). Whatever the case, people have the right to resolve debt without being put down, made to feel like losers or threatened.

How can someone take something from you that you never had in the first place? Sorry, I don't work on commission like you do. I, like I am sure most of the other people in this forum, am gainfully employed. I am in no way a deadbeat. I am the director of admissions at a small private college in New York State with a salary of over $60K per year. My mistakes were made when I was young and not knowledgeable of money matters. I ran up credit cards until I was up to my neck and the creditors came calling. I destroyed my credit. I paid each and every debt accrued IN FULL. I never accepted a settlement and never denied a debt I knew to be my own. I can now say I have respectable credit and am nearly debt free.

Did I actually just make an effort with this? Wow.

The only people stealing are those who would borrow from the ORIGINAL CREDITOR with the INTENT to default on the debt. The criminal justice system exists partially to prosecute theft and fraud. The collections industry exists primarily because sh!t happens.

If everyone paid their bills on time, you would be out of a job...so in a very roundabout, yet real way, debtors put food ON your table. But if money is really an issue for you, then:

a) Get a second job. collection agencies are one place for an unskilled and/or uneducated worker. But so is the fast food industry. It's not hard, say it with me now,
"Welcome to (insert name here), can I take your order?"
"Do you want fries with that?"
"Do you want the combo meal?"
"Here's your change."

or

b) Go get a college education, then find a better paying job. You might just learn how to think before speaking, and not end up sounding like an idiot.

I believe that post is just a troll (possibly the same one who has made other posts here). Funny, now we're on the subject, I haven't heard many people around law schools bragging about "going into the collection industry" when they pass the bar. Same with high schools or younger kids. How many are excited and say, " I want to be a bill collector when I grow up"?
