I am dealing with palisades also. I faxed them a paid in full receipt for the Verizon phone bill in question and they told me it was a different acct. #. It is the same dates and phone # as the other bill we paid. They also have listed the account three times on my CR. What do I do next? Do I need to call Verizon? Thanks Amanda

Dear Amanda,

I think that by giving false information, they have breached fdcpa. Now, you should follow the following steps: -

??????? Talk to the bill collector again over phone on the matter and get it recorded in front of a witness

??????? Now make a formal written complaint against Palisades Collection Agency to Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

??????? Also file a complaint to your state????????s consumer protection agency.

??????? Send the above mentioned copies to the company (Verizon) that hired the collection agency

I hope this will work for you and the collection agency stops harassing you.

Regards,

Phoenix

We just got notified today that Alltel has turned over a bill of my husband's to Palisades. We didn't even know that he had an outstanding bill with Alltel.
We had Alltel when we moved to New Mexico 2 years ago, but we discontinued using them as our phone service provider shortly after getting here. We have heard nothing from Alltel and have never heard of Palisades collection agencies. It allegedly was just turned over this month, 2 years after we quit with Alltel.
This alleged bill is hurting my husband's credit rating.
Should we just go to the Alltel office here and check with them or dispute the whole thing?

Thanks.

Welcome to our debtconsolidationcare community. :)

If I have got you right then you are saying that you have got a mail from Palisades CA for an outstanding debt of Alltel. As you are not sure about this bill then you can send a debt validation letter to Palisades which they are required to answer.

Thnx-n-bye. God bless you all.

In my opinion it is always best to go to the source. In both cases above I would go to the phone companies to figure out what is going on since that is where the bills origninated from. I would contact both Verizon and Alltel to determine what outstanding balance if any was owed then I would settle with them on that balance and just ignore the CA.

I no longer have this receipt & it has came off my credit report in 2007 what should I do once I fax the letter? Will they put this back on my credit report I have worked really hard to keep my credit in good standing I don't want my credit ruined what should I do?

It seems this collection agency is breaking alot of fdcpa rules and regulations. They are collecting on old settled accounts wich the remaining balance was never closed properly. That is a a violation there, they are useing false and miss leading information, wich is another violation. It dont seem this collection agency has much brains. I see alot of law suits coming your way.The burden of proof is on you palisades collection agency, lets see a copy of all the signed documents, you are trying to collect on.

I just got a letter in the mail informing me that my wages are being garnished by Palisades on:

A) a debt that was settled out of 5 years ago

and

B) A supposed bank I've never had an account with...

Contacting them has proven to be impossible. There are some phone numbers floating around the net but none of them are good.

My county circuit court, my employer, and the garnishing agency have NO contact information available for Palisades. How did they get this far in court, etc... without supplying an address or phone number for their agency???
