Hi all.

I have a question for you all. I posted this on another site but everyone seems to be too obsessed with what new cards to apply for to answer. So I thought I would re-ask it here at the place that started me on my credit repair in the first place.

I read the following statement on a website concerning Palisades:

*Collection Accounts should be reporting as closed accounts, cannot have a past due amount or be reporting as late. Most consumers are not aware of that so collectors like Palisades continue to report accounts like that in order to inflict the most damage on your credit score.*

Is this correct?

Palisades just suddenly appeared on my credit report lastnight. It shows the account as being open and a past due amount. Needless to say my TU score took a crash dive.

I can't answer you're question in regard to the credit report.

I just want to know if the Palisade you are referring to is in NJ? If it is, this agency is connected to a law firm Pressler & Pressler and they are ruthless. I have seen articles on the net where they are in the process of putting together a class action suit against they for unfair debt collection. You have to be careful with them, once they start to roll over you they don't stop.

I've had experience with them and in the end they're always incorrect.

Just from experience....they are very very shady. If you google them, you will find out just what is going on with them. There newspaper articles on their devious practics.

Just google Pressler & Pressler! I will add anything you see is true because it happened to me. I finished paying them and then all of a sudden I was getting checks from them!

I have to look into this again but there have been other things going one.

I just worry what happened to me doesn't happen to you. Whatever you do answer the court summons or whatever they send you. Just post here and I will help you.

I just checked my reports and...

Palisades is gone! Woot!

I must have scared them silly with my fire and brimstone DV letter *grin*

I will continue to monitor against any more future shenanigins these jokers may pull.

A debt validation letter (DV letter) challenges the collection agency to prove that they have the legal right or they are authorized to collect the money from you. Under fdcpa if a collection agency receives a DV letter within thirty days of its first contact with the consumers, then it has to verify the debt. Until and unless they prove it, they can not report or make efforts to collect on the item any longer. The DV letter must be sent via certified mail with a return receipt request. However your right to verify the debt applies only to collection agencies and not the original creditor.

I hope this information was useful. :)

Palisades filed a claim against my credit report even after I mailed them a DV letter. I have filed an identity theft claim with them, with the FTC, and a complaint with the BBB.
What can I do next?

I did send the DV letter certified mail, but didn????????t keep the green card when I got it back. Also, at the time, I almost blew it off thinking it was a ???????spam???????? thing, only with regular mail. So I have no proof. Palisades told me that they sent me an ID theft right after I had sent the letter, but I never got it. Only when I called them (after finding out about the claim against my credit report), THEN they sent me an id theft form. I have also filed a police report regarding the id theft issue.
This is a huge lesson in keeping the little green card!!
