I, too, along with other family members have received threatening messages as "persons of interest". I will, as suggested, write a dv in attempt to get to the bottom of this but can I also request that others on their "persons of interest" list be removed and no longer contacted? Or will this need to be done individually.

Yes, you can send a DV letter to the collection agency if you are anyway related to the debt and you may send a cease and desist letter if you don't owe the debt they are talking about.
