Debt Validated by Debt colector... now what?

I sent a debt validation request letter to a law firm that was trying to collect a nearly $6000 debt from 07... It's been passed around to a bunch of other debt collection agencies before going to them...
Anywho... they sent me a copy of the credit card application along with a letter demanding payment in full within 10 days.
What are my next steps?
What can I do now? Am I just s outta l?

Send them a settlement proposal. I'd start with an offer of 30i
