I need to check on this company. I have been hospitalized for a smashed tibia and fibula. Things have been crazy and one of my bills made it to this collection agency. I told them I could start paying them in three weeks. Then I had a woman call me and tell me I didn't take make this agreement. I then thought it was a different company and new I couldn't make another payment of the same size and told her I could pay a smaller amount. Then she told me I had already made an agreement of the original amount. I then realized she was lying to me. They also want the routing number for my checking account with my agreement so they can put it through on that date. Well I don't trust them. Should I??
Yesterday, the man who called kept yelling at me that I should have taken care of this debt from the get-go. He yelled that at least 3 times before I finally hung up the phone. They have offered me no proof that this debt actually exists.
I sent a letter of dispute, which they claim to have no record of receiving. So, according to a supervisor, the fact that they are still calling me is my fault because I failed to send the letter by certified mail with a confirmation of receipt.
Pinnacle is the 4th collection agency to handle this bogus charge from T-Mobile. The other 3 were all very polite and reasonable. They all received my letters of dispute even though they weren't sent by certified mail. The other 3 collection agencies stopped calling me once those letters of dispute were received.
I want Pinnacle and T-Mobile to know that I mean what I say. I am not paying this bogus charge that was caused by an incompetent T-Mobile employee. I do not pay others to make mistakes that cost me money. That is not ethical, and what T-Mobile did to me should be illegal.
Please let me know what more I can do to get them to stop harassing me.

that is wrong.in some states even a payment doesn't do that.if a collector is legit it is best to try,and work out an arrangement.ignoring a legit collector can get you sued.another point.if you missed a payment or two your credit is effected, and some debt is collected by collectors hired by the original creditor.your post had misinformation all around.

Not sure if you're still around, but if you are...
First I wonder if you work for Pinnacle or one of the many crooked agencies out there.
Second, please do not judge others based on absolutely no knowledge of them.
My own story of debt has much to do with banks themselves, 3 yrs. ago when my dad passed, my mom was to be left all alone. My husband, myself and 3 growing children lived in a small, but lovely home. While dad was in a coma, we found a home with in-law attachment. The bank and mortgage broker both assured us a bridge loan would be approved and after we sold the first home they would re-finance the new one. We had A1 credit.Always early and this on single income with my SS disability, as I am multiplied disabled. Well, we carried 2 mortgs. for 10 months as we watched the market crash, 06,07. Finally let the first house go for a song. Then the bank who had said they would re-finance us, said no due to our amount of debt. Our amount of debt was the same as when they gave us the bridge loan and current with never a late payment. From there things went downhill. Having children, ages-16, 14, 12, a computer is a necessity these days as the majority of their homework is done online. Yes, we have a library in town, but often I am unable to drive and inclement weather prevents the kids from biking or walking there to use their 2 cmptrs.
So, please don't judge others, even if you know their story, not your place, IMHO.
Light and Blessings to All.

My suggestion would be to say and put in writing, return receipt request, I have made a good faith effort to settle my debt and by taxing on $15.00, it makes it impossible for me to pay it down and attend to my other necessities.
When I got sober, 20 years ago, my dad was a prominent lawmaker , I was 40k in debt, he was advised by fin. savvy friends that this was how I should handle penalties and such. If they were not willing to stop interest and penalties, I simply said it was friutless. And kept all records in writing. Never did anyone of my creditors turn me down. A few agencies did, however, make threats, call me names and hang up never to be heard of again. My Dad found out these agencies receive a list of people with debt that has already been charged off by creditors, they take it upon themselves to see and harass what they can from us and if they get anything, they get large %%! Hope this is helpful
Peace

I called back to speak to someone else and instead spoke to a gentleman who was very polite. He said the debt was already on my credit report, and that when I got the money to call back to set up a payment arrangement. They claim they only do automatic withdrawls and cannot accept money order payments. I've received 2 more phone calls so far from this company and the last 2 times it was the original lady I spoke to who was ever so freakin rude.
DO NOT LET THEM TRY THEIR SCARE TACTIC BULLSH*T ON YOU! I have already contacted Collection Stopper and they've already given me a letter to send to the company to make them provide proper documentation on what I "supposedly" owe and to keep them from calling and harrassing me. I mean seriously, if you don't have the money to pay someone, all you can do is try your best to make the payments. I WILL not be giving into them...PERIOD!!!!

I am not a lawyer, nor is this legal advice. that said, I am a fairly well educated person and my instincts say something smells rotton and these folks Pinnacle financial absolutely appear to be acting in bad faith and ethics may not even exist..that is if any collection agency has any?1 these folks called my home and tried to speak to my wife through trickery, she said her first name and needed to speak with my wife's (first name) and I was like? who? where does she know you from, and she said pinnacle financlial, and I had to probe in order to make them finally admit they are a debt collection agency. clearly their methods are lacking any ethical merit. point is, my wife has aa common naamee, and regardless of what they said, she owes nothing. we have our credit reports monitored regularly. I said that and she asked for information to confirm, I volunteered NOTHING. nor will I. i said, if you think she owes you, send it in writing. she said they already did, and that made it clear she was a liar and obviously has the wrong party. she made threats, when I saaid I will be filing a casse for harassment. she said she will keep calling, and ruin my wifes credit. do it, I saaid, and stop calling. we don't owe anybody anything late, and I am well aware of that, but they wont stop calling. verizon has *57 and you dial it after they call you and the call is traced. some states require you do this twice. then get a police report, and verizon will, with the police take matters in their own hands. I can asssure you, that I don't believe any company we deal with amex, audi, etc would use a company like this. there are levels before a collection agent is hired because that means the company must give them a portion of the debt, and if we really owed anything, we'd know it before collections, and gain, this sounds like a shady black listed company. there are probably some good ones that reputable companies use. I doubt it would be them, even so the nature of the biz is ugly. record them if it's legal in your statee, and tell them they're beeing recorded, I'm sure they'll talk differently. 8)
