They purchased an account that I owe and sent me a letter asking of course for payment. Does anyone know if they have a reputation of working with you to lower the amount owed?
I am currently paying off my Discover card at 40% and can't afford anything else until it is done in December.

Have you talked to them? I think you should talk to them first and tell them your situation. Also tell them that you are willing to pay the same but at a later date. Send them a willing-to-pay letter and mention in it that you will pay it after December (explaining the reason for this of course)

Wait a minute. Have you asked for debt validation? I think you should ask it first.
