I am in a fight against Unifund and am doing a lot of research. Does anyone know where I could go to get information on the debt buying business SPECIFICALLY the average price paid by a debt buyer for a charged off credit card account. I'm an academic and enjoy research. Thank you!

JDB's don't buy debts in onesies and twosies. They buy up huge portfolios (thousands of accounts), usually at auctions.
Go to google and type "bad debt auction". You'll find different websites where they auction off bad debts. If you search hard enough you might find some bids and descriptions of the lots being sold.
