Midland

I have never received anything from Midland, nor do I know who and where they are. I called ECL&G today and they said that this came from public record and it's only an advertisement if I want their help. I explained that I don't know who Midland is and who they are collecting for. They said it's all pulled from public records (like junk mail) and it could be several years old.
I pulled my credit report and checked my public record and I don't have anything from Midland on either of them. I am curious as to where this information came from.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Wow, that is a head scratcher, the best advice I can give you is to contact your local court clerk's office to see if they can research it for you. Perhaps someone else will be along shortly to be able to give better advice.

In your position, I think I'd call/write Edelman, combs, Latturner & Goodwin, LLC about this. Seems like one of two things is goin' om here... Either [1] they know something you don't, or [2] they're tryin' to pull a fast on on you. Either way, if they're tryin' to sell you services, they should have no problem with tellin' you why [they think] you need those services. Logical?
I think I'd also play dumb and pretend I never heard of this forum. Just make like an 'unsophisticated consumer'. That might give you more latitude for worming the information out of them. If needs be, you could always drop the pretense after.
Let us know how this plays out. Anything that stumps JCEMT and I both ought to be worth reading.

I checked my credit report and there was nothing on there from Midland. I also called the county clerks office and they don't have anything on file for me. They said that it was probably some scam or something. I think I will try to call the attorney tomorrow and demand for them to tell me where they got this info.

Daniel Edelman is a very good consumer attorney in Chicago. It is his office you heard from. If you eventually find the Midland alleged debt a fact, by all means accept Edelman's offer.
Rather than calling Midland, send them a debt validation letter.
