Any one heard of RA Rogers collection agency?

I got a letter from RA Rogers to collect my debt for a loan with a credit union which is charged off. The charge off amount was $9250 but the letter states that I owe $12610.

Why is it a different amount? I havent sent them a DV letter yet.
Is this a genuine co.? Any experiences with settlement?

This is a genuine company. They also accept settlements. I am a member of State Dept. FCU and they referred mine to them. My experience has been a good one though.
