First post here, and I hope you can help me.
I'm currently in the process of trying to pay off all of my debts and rebuild my credit. Today I contacted Trauner, Cohen, and Thomas regarding an outstanding debt of $565.00 They are trying to collect a debt through CACH, LLC, who are collecting through HSBC. The letter I have is a couple months old, however when I contacted them today to work out a payment plan, they had no record of my account, whatsoever. A lady even took my number in order to call me back after she researched the matter further, and still could find no information.
Now, I know I owe HSBC roughly $300.00, but without the collection agency being able to produce any information, where do I go from here? Sorry for the long winded post, and thanks for your help.

Welcome to the forum, I would say it may have been recalled from TC&T. CACH may still have it, try contacting them. Also, personal suggestion. Make sure you get everything in writing. CACH doesn't have a history of being a trustworthy company.

Is this account on your credit report? If it is, you can contact the company that put it there. If they no longer have it at least you can get the info taken off your credit report. It's strange they have no record, even if they sold it, they would have the record that they no longer hold the account. Very strange.

You might even try contacting HSBC first--sometimes it is easier to work with the original creditor than it is to work with a CA like CACH that has a history of not following the law.
EDIT--if the account has been sold, HSBC wont be able to help you, but they will at least be able to let you know that it was sold. It could be worth a try.
