Good morning everyone,

i have been on full speed since trying to clear up my credit report.

I called redline recovery and discover i had a past due Sounds Advice that was open back in 2000 and last payment was made on 2004.

Honestly, this bill was going to my high school sweetheart address because he was making the payments but I had my name on the card. i know, STUPID!

Well, it reflects a balance of 2263 or something of that nature on all three of my accounts but when i spoke to them they said about 4k.

Bottomline, like everyone else, i want to deal with this but can't afford the 4k upfront. Has anyone ever dealt with them? any good come out of it? how are they in giving a decent settlement?????????????????

thanks for reading!

Never heard of that creditor. Is it a department store account? You're in FL? If so, then SOL is 4 years on the account and you may be beyond that. Was the account current when you made the last payment in 2004 or had it already gone delinquent? If you are beyond SOL and reporting period is close to expiring, you have a bit more leverage to negotiate a settlement.

thanks for your reply nascar!

Yes i am in florida and Sound Advice is a retail store. To be honest, i never made payment because i never saw the billl. It went to my exboyfriend house and he was making payments on it. I never got any calls until i saw it listed on my credit report. I thought it was for another card i had outstanding but she dropped the ball on me when she said it was from Sounds Advice.

They lady just told me that last payment was made in 2004 and that is why my balance is so HIGH! but they were willinly to have it resolved for the amount listed on the credit report; whoever, i would have to paid the 2K in one shot!

SOL would expire 4 years after the date of last payment. If you can narrow down the month and determine that it is beyond SOL, then you have no legal obligation to pay. I would call the CRA's and get the date of first default that was reported on both Redline's and the OC's tradeline. That will give you an idea of when the tradeline will fall off your reports.

Hi everyone,

just a quick update. I called these people back and spoke to much nicer people.

The balance on the card is 4K and my high school sweetheart stopped making the payments back in 2004.

I told them i can pay the debt but all i have is 1500 to paid it in full. She wanted me to pay 50% of it. but i didn't not have 2K to give and i only bugeted 1500 for this account. And the end of it, they offer 1600.

However, i told them i am not going to give them any money until they fax or send me the agreement. She wanted to fax over the letter but i cannot make it to kinkos until after 6pm today. So she ask me for my email address. I told her I thought that it was illegal for her to email items over the internet (is it? some compaines flat out told me they couldn't but it save me time and enery). She says it is if I don't have your permission. She told me to read the email and give her a call back within the next hour to set up payment.

It has been 45 mintues and no email has gone through yet. She says if i don't call within the hour. the verbal contract is null and void.

ugh. i see the light but something is not letting me get to it!

Yes, and whatever you do, do not, do not, do not give them your bank account information! I would never give any CA my bank account information, that is an invitation for them to come in, clean out your bank account, and totally screw up your finances.

Do not give them your bank account information.
