Hi.
I wished I could have found this community before i settled with two collectors this year. I got confirmation and release letters, but not validation, assuming that I do owe their original creditors. Could I retrospectively ask them to provide validation letters? Just curiousity how I owe that money...
Thanks.

Yes you can seek validation of debt after the fact, simply because the law still reserves your right to demand proof of any debt that you felt 'pressured' to pay already. Validation of debt does not vanish just because a consumer, who had no idea of the laws, paid the debt. You may seek restitution if validation of dabt can not be met by the parties in question.

FYI.
I paid because I wanted to take care of it, but now because it was on my credit report and I kindda remember I did not pay before I leave for overseas...or actually my husband was supposed to pay, but he dissapeared. So, I had to let it go.
I just want to make sure I paid the right guys as you said...they indicated the original creditors and account numbers, so I believe it is legit...
