Prior to dealing with a credit counseling firm please make sure that you first try and contact the creditor for relief.
Be prepared to remit a personal financial statement showing that you are headed toward insolvency.
You can download a template from microsoft online. Be as liberal as possible. In many instances and because the money banks rely upon to fund new credit card lines has all but dried up, one letter and phone call can reduce your interest rate to a sustainable level.
Also, please and please, if you are Christian contact your local Church if you find that you and your spouse are arguing more because of financial conditions.
If you are Jewish the local temple will do well.
Remember, debt causes depression, alcohol abuse, suicide and divorce. DO NOT LET MONEY get you down.
