It is not that easy. If it was a collection account, unless you had it in writing at the time you paid it off, it is not going anywhere.

If you're talking about a paid collection you can try to dispute with the CRA's. Data furnishers have to pay in order to report and since they already have your money, they generally have no more interest in you. It also greatly depends on who you are dealing with. Some CA's will poison your CR's to the max 7.5 years.
