rental collection

Hello I have a rental collection that is five years in the making. I am currently going to be homeless in the middle of January if I can not find a place to live. Being as how I have this collection of $3, 000.00, I am not able to get an apartment I have spent a lot of money on applications ans so far just denials. What can I do? I don't want to be homeless. Unless you can find some way to pay the debt or somehow settle with the landlord, you will be stuck in this mess. Assuming that your credit condition is not very bright, you may not even be eligible for a loan of some sort. See if you can borrow some money from friends and family to cover at least some part of the bill and maybe the landlord might reconsider evicting you.
