I need a mailing address for allied interstate so I can report them for harassment.

They called me and told me that I had a debt - she would not give me the contract that she said her "client" had my signature on nor their phone number. When I said that I would pull my credit report and see if I truely did owe the amount, she got defensive and said that she was "marking my name down as hostile and refusing to pay". I said that she could mark down whatever she wanted, but until I knew that the debt was legit, I was NOT going to giver her bank account numbers.

You should have responded with, "And I am marking you down as hostile and refusing to provide contact information." :)

Send them a DV letter. You could try to call them back and get an address, or if need be, check your credit reports to see if they are reporting.

Check your state laws on recording phone conversations and start recording them.

Isn't this considered harassment...The stuip woman at Allied wanted to know if I could make the payment in full...NO I GOT LAID OFF AND CAN'T AFFORD TO EVEN TO ENOUGH GROCERIES TO GET ME THRU THE WEEK!!!!

Allied Interstate
P.O. Box 5017
New York, NY 10163
717-918-1066

These people are probably the most idiotic I've ever had the pleasure of being entertained by.
Columbia House claimed I ordered some DVDS from them...which I did NOT. I've sent letters and made phone calls to Columbia House to dispute it and instead of them listening to me, they suckered some collection agency into buying it and now they're trying to collect a lousy $27 from me that I do NOT owe. They're hoping that I will pay the money so they will go away.
Not going to happen. Good luck with these fools.

The best thing to do when you have issues like this is to contact a consumer attorney. The National Association of Consumer Advocates (NACA) has a website where you can easily connect to attorneys who work in this field. The website is www.naca.net. Select the "find an attorney" tab, put in your state, select "debt collection", click whatever box makes the most sense (FDCPA, Not My Debt, Harassment and Abuse, etc.), and then click the search button to the left. A few attorneys will come up so the best thing to do is to (starting at the middle or bottom, because the top names probably get the most inquiries) send out a form email explaining the situation to all of the attorneys listed. If you leave your contact information, the interested lawyers should get back to you. Good luck.

I am even getting harassed about a debt someone else owes who previously had my home phone number over 7 years ago. I also play with them: I tell them that they need to get a real job instead of doing things that can cause them to get in trouble with the law and that I bet they don't have many friends. They want to get you emotionally upset so you will pay the debt even if you don't owe it. So keep cool and ask for their name, company name, address, and phone number. Make a log of each time they call you. When they ask if for a specific person, don't answer, just ask them for the info above and then tell them to put you on their don't call list since you don't have a debt with them. I also tell them that the person they want to talk to never lived here (since they don't) but to hold on and I will see what I can do to get them on the line...then I just put the phone in the corner and let them wait until they hang up. It wastes their time and keeps them from harassing others.

Well what you are doing will not stop them from calling. For starters they dont have a "do not call" list. Do not call lists do not apply to collection agencies. What you are saying them is nothing they havent heard before and is more amusing to them than anything else. Simply send them a letter of cease and desist telling them they are calling the wrong number. You are not only wasting your time but your own.
