Maggie - to the best of my knowledge, you would need to contact the credit reporting companies to dipute anything that is on them. I'll be honest - I am not sure if those companies have "local offices". If you go to their websites, they should have the answers and hopefully the forms needed there.
If you just paid off the account, the company should update your credit report. You shouldn't have to do anything.
Now - if I am wrong, feel free to correct me. Anyone.

You are right Jedi, the company will update the item with the credit bureaus. Maggi, if you don't see the updated item in your file within 30 days, contact the bureaus and request them to put a check on your file. After receiving your dispute letter, they will collect the information from the companies and update the item in your file.

They told me they don't do it. I have no idea why, but they did send me a copy of my payment agreement with them stamped paind in full, and a letter with the original creditor name and account number on it stating that they owned the debvt and that it is paid in full. So I guess I just have to mail copies of this letter to all the credit bureaus correct?
