collection agency reselling agin

i had a collection with a collection agency from 08. i paid a settlement on the debt. i thought it was done...now i have a new collection agency coming after me for settled portion on the debt..can they resell part i didn't pay b/c it was a settled account?

if that doesnt work and they continue trying to collect, call the FTC and your state's attorney general's office and file formal complaints ASAP. Provide those agencies with copies of the documentation you mentioned and they should help you out.

The new agency gets the purchased account with no information....it was the previous agencies fault for not closing it properly.
