I sent a validation letter and all I got back were two statements from the credit card company and nothing else. Resend the same letter and now I got back a statement again, like you would get in the mail from that credit card and nothing else
What do I do re send the letter again? There are charges on this statement I do not understand and not sure how they got added. this was a secured credit card from Fleet several years back.

Have you tried calling the lawyer or the credit card company? Obviously you need to speak with someone and try to explain your situation.

Since I only got the statement back from this attorney and nothing else does that mean he proved the validation of debt?
no, grannie, this is not proper validation. Validation must
no, grannie, this is not proper validation.
Validation must establish three things--
1--that the debt is legitimately yours
2--that the amount they say you owe is accurate and legitimate
3--that the CA that's trying to collect the money has the legal right to do so.
If they cannot show you proof of the total amount they say you owe, plus proof that they are assigned to or own the debt, then they did not provide validation.
Think about it--they call you and tell you that you owe them $2000. You ask for validation. They send you statements from last year showing a balance owed of $870. If that is all they sent, they have not proven how the amount got to $2000, right? In this day and age, a common skip-tracing tactic is to go through someone's garbage. Seriously. Scammers do the same thing. It isnt anything these days for a scammer to go through your garbage, pull out an old credit card statement or two, and then pretend you owe them money on an old account. Not saying thats what happened here but it most definitely is possible--thats why validation requests must be honored according to law. And they havent honored yours. If you choose to send them another certified letter, I would inform them that what they are sending you does not constitute proper validation under federal law and that they need to either provide proper validation or, also under federal law, they need to stop contacting you about this debt completely. Hope this helps.

In the letter from the attorney back in October 2007,
the letter states that his office represents Laridian Consulting, LLC who has purchased this account and placed this matter for collection. I never recieved any thing from them or even Fleet Bank. I understand what you have said and I do not have proof that Laridian or the attorney have been assigned to collect this debt.
