Allied Interstate Help Questions
Date: Tue, 09/18/2007 - 15:19
I went into a debt settlement program a few years back. All accounts have been paid except for 2. Those should be complete within the next few months. One of these two sent my account to a collection agenct..Allied Interstate. For the past 2 years, I have received calls from them. They would go through periods without calling and would then resume again. At one point, they were calling my job, all work references, past places of employment, and even my grandparents. Then the calling ceased for awhile (I might receive 1 call with no message per week). In June of this year it started up again. I would receive 15 calls in 5 minutes. If I answered, whoever was on the line would hang up. Lately, I have been receiving up to 7 calls per day on my cell, with messages left for most of them. It is usually an electronic message and occasionally an actual person. They have also been calling my place of employment several times per day.
Last Friday, I sent them a Cease & Desist letter for telephonic communication. I have no issues with them sending me postal mail. I am waiting on the return receipt. As of today (Tuesday), I received 2 calls to my cell and 2 to my place of employment. I even spoke with a man this evening. I told him I was unavailable (we can't take calls at work so I used a different name). I know I probably shouldn't have done that, but I refuse to discuss my financial situation at work where everything is recorded. In fact, I refuse to speak with them at all (hence that Cease and Desist letter). I would actually be happy to speak with them, once I get the return receipt, so that I can remind them that they are not to call. With that in mind, my questions are:
1. What do I do if they continue to call? I am still waiting on that return receipt and am actually nervous that I won't receive it.
2. Since I am paying the original creditor, can I just tell them to get lost?
3. Does anyone know if Alliance 1 and allied interstate are the same?
I appreciate all help!!

Bud Says... This company is a class action lawsuit waiting to happen. Sloppy record keeping, failure to validate at every level, under-trained, uneducated collectors SEVERELY lacking in Fair Debt Collection Practices Act training. Intellirisk must be making BIG bucks in collecting because they sure don't spend it to insure they comply with the laws. Student loans with these idiots is a nightmare. Most Allied collector's don't have a clue in handling even the most basic of consumer complaints. Loans that have been paid, in the wrong names and outdated credit bureau reporting are fast targets for lawsuits because Allied is unable or unwilling to respond. If you receive a collection notice from Allied DISPUTE IT! Even though you will never receive a reply, it is important that you use the law to your advantage. Allied aptly fits the saying; "the right hand hasn't a clue what the left hand is doing" Brain-Dead! Idiots! Untrained! May I state again....THANK GOD FOR THE FAIR DEBT COLLECTION PRACTICES ACT!! Someone in Washington must have had a dream about companies like Allied to enact the law. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! WATCH YOUR WALLET, YOUR CHECKBOOK AND YOUR CREDIT CARDS WHEN DEALING WITH THESE SLIPPERY CONS OF THE COLLECTION WORLD, THEY WILL EMPTY YOU OUT! budhibbs.com |
