I have received numerous calls from this company. They continue to make a point that they are not a collection agency. However, they request a return call with a file number they reference. If they are not a collection agency, what are they?

Used to get the same calls. One time I called back and they stated that my "file" had been sent to them and that they wanted to give me a chance to take care of a matter before filing "paperwork". Very vague. The person didn't have any information as to whom the creditor was, only that I owed a certain amount. I told them if they couldn't provide me with the information I needed, then the conversation was over. I hung up. They continued to call several times a day and I let the message go to voicemail. They still call once or twice a week, leaving the same message.
You can call once to see what it's about, and if it's like what I experienced, then ignore their calls.
