Is this something I would need to respond to. Can I settle this debt and if so is there a way to figure out a settlement amount. The debt is at least two years old

yes what did they send you.a generic statement anybody can type up doesn't count as proof.did you send a letter,or demand proof by phone.if you didn't send a DV(debt validation)letter do so.send it certified mail return receipt.use any address included in whatever they sent.the guest above me is right.the proof is most likely a generic piece of paper i could have typed up.that proves nothing.

They have no time limit to respond. They must cease collection efforts until validation is provided if you're DV is timely. Sounds like they validated it to your satisfaction. The ball is now in your court.
