Being sued

We are being sued by a law firm collectong on toll road tax violations. The car that has assessed these violations was no longer our car, however we do not have proof of that but we can prove the car was no longer in our posession when it violated the toll procedured. We are willing and ready to go to court but my question is should they not be sueing us in our county? Not theirs?

If the car was sold how did they trace it to you? Did it still have your plates or a toll transponder? Did you send proof to the law firm that the car was sold or did you just let someone borrow it? If that is the case you are responsible! In most states they should sue you in the county where you reside!
