I have been getting calls from ruben & yates as well,but i spoke to them a while back cuz i didn't know they were illegal,so i did set up a payment plan of $150 a month,but i only paid it 2 times cuz i couldn't afford to pay it;so i was ignoring their calls, but just today may 17 they left a message on my cell phone & said that tomorrow they will take funds from my bank account & if there's not enough money for them there,there will be a charge & if i wanted to speak to someone aboutit to call them,so now that i found this website i don't know what to do, so please help me now please,what should i do ? Can they really take money from my bank?

Once you give your permission and your account info, they can take money out. The best way I know to stop it is to change your account and notify them that you are revoking authorization to take money out of your account.

Yeah...best bet is to close that account as was suggested above. Did you ever get any paperwork on this debt, are you sure they are the correct ones you should be paying or they are collecting the correct amount? You should NEVER pay anyone over the phone just because they say you owe, plus giving them banking information just opens you up for just exactly what you described. Any and all payments should be mailed in money order or cashiers check. If a company refuses these methods of payment that is a red flag they are a disreputable company.
