i have a sears account seriously that was opened 02/1975. I never expected life to get to me at my age, but it did. The usuall divorce, kids, illness, loss of job ect happened to me. Anyway, my account experienced financial payment issues in early 2002. Account was closed11/2003. Last payment made 07/2004. Account was sold to debt buyer with an open date of 11/2003. And now according to debt co has a dola of 2/2006. my question is, with an account this old, if i do request validation what could they possibly come up with? this seriously 34 years old! do creditors keep that good of records? should i pay this? settle? ignore? date of deletion debt buyer is 12/09...and oc is unknown(not listed in file) also why does the original creditor only report in one of my credit file???

The date of last payment made is what will determine the SOL. Not the date it was open.
I would request validation and see if they can validate it.
I'm not sure if they will still be able to verify it or not.
