Is this method of sending a payment to a collection agency safe? or certified check better? I would sent a check through the mail but I dont trust the agency to have my banking information.

Isn't sending a bill payment through western union cost like 12.95?

Quick Collect by Western Union is a collection agency standard. Expensive yes but if it has to get there by a certain date or time, it is very useful...plus you have hard copy proof that it was sent. Certified check would still give them your bank info. Cashiers checks or money orders take time to trace.

Doesn't Western Union also still have access to you bank info? The company that holds my car note started using Quick Collect for their on-line payments and all western union is doing is producing a electronic draft of my check and charging me $7.00.

Unless you are trying to get money to a creditor to stop a foreclosure or a repossession, there really is not a time with any collection agency where they need their money THAT SOON as to pay the high rates that Western Union charges (I have heard of some collections agencies using quick Collect charging up to $20.00 for the service).

I decided long ago if I am dealing with a collection agency, or a closed account, payment is made only with a cashiers check or money order. If I'm really dis trustful of the company, I'll even send it CMRR.

I did WU one time long ago- they didn't have my banking info- I gave the store clerk my money.

I always send things money order,it may take time, but I am too paranoid to send it other ways  I,too, send everything certified, return receipt.

I started doing what some guest or new member suggested--I put the number from the CRR on my money order, and or letter I am sending so they can't say they got something, but this wasn't what they signed for. This way the number is on it and they can't deny it..karen--or I guess they could, but it would be harder
