How long does it normally take for the Server processor

i know when the sheriff's office serves papers, they have a standard fee that applies to milage (how far the papers are being served) so i find it dubious that they do not know how much it will cost to serve papers.

Ohh they gave me an "est" of 110.. but really how long does it take for them to get the bill? It's been almost two weeks already since I've been served.

They said I have till Thursday 26th before noon to pay the bill. Well how the heck can I pay it if you still don't have a damn server bill? Then when I was there yesterday they told me I wouldn't have court date until they got the bill, yet on my papers it says March 27th.

As I said.. I went ahead and paid it, but really.. I don't want to be screwed over because you didn't get the bill in time from the processor server.

i really do not know, i am only familiar with the sheriff's office and they usually charge about $30.00.

The law office used someone one private to serve me. (probably the most money for them) and what I ment to say was that I don't want to get screwed over because there processor server didn't send them the bill till Thursday. There's no way I can get off before 12 to pay it if it's more then what they said it was.

As I said It was a valid bill, so I don't mind paying, but really how long does it take for them to submit the bill to the lawyer? Two weeks seems pretty damn long to me.

could you call the actual process server and ask? they also serve for people pro-se, you do not have to be an attorney to call.

I'd have to wait till I got home and see if I still had his card. The number they have on a stamp is a personal residence and I really would hate to leave a message like "Hey you butthead you served me and the lawyers still don't have a bill" on their VM.

On a side note, if I don't get the correct amount by Friday, I'm planning on going into court and actually contesting this based on the fact that they never gave me the correct amount owed. I've been calling about every other day.

Edited to add: I just talked to them and it was 30 so i'll be getting a refund next week when the attorney that cuts the check is there.

good for you! I thought the $110 sounded high, because if they costs that much more than the sheriffs, they would probably go out of business.
so is everything settled (are they finally out of your life now, lol that's the best feeling in the world)

As far as I know.. they said they will tell the judge I paid it but I'm planning on showing up as well just incase they don't.

But this is a pretty repuitable collection law firm, so I'm pretty sure i'm just over-reacting.
