Paul is right, you need to be careful on this one. Did you get the settlement in writing? And did the settlement agree to not sell the balance owed to someone else?
Before I came to this site, I had a creditor that wanted my checking account info to settle a bill. I told them I would send a money order,t hey said they don"t accept one. I sent it anyway, along with a letter.
I had gotten the terms in writing from them and included a copy of the letter along with my money order, and my leter saying this was paid in full per their terms. Don't know if I did that right since I had not come here and learned the things I know now, but it worked then.
Just be careful of giving your account numbers, bank etc., to anyone..karen

Why won't they take a Money Order? They would still get their payment that way. That's crazy. No...I wouldn't be sending them a check (if you have a checking account). With a Money order or Cashier's check, you can trace BOTH of them to see if someone had cashed them or not. I agree with PAUL...I think it's a 'set up', too.
Oh no, I would never give a CA a check from my personal account,

Good decision!!! That way THEY can't 'trace' it, but, YOU can trace it: who cashed it, when it was cashed 9in case THEY say they never received it), etc.
