What if you don't have a lump sum?

I am still trying to keep most of my cc's current - only Chase is behind - so I have no savings to draw from. How can I settle with them to get them off my back? Also, since Chase went south all my credit has been cut and I am trying to live on cash only - so, after buying groceries - there is no big sum left to send a big settlement - any ideas? Chase keeps trying to get me to call them to discuss - I don't think a verbal agreement is a good idea.

You can call and discuss a settlement. Sometimes you can work out a term settlement instead of just a lump sum. Just be sure that before you send them a payment that you get the agreement in writing.
