Need Help with-Debt collections & payday loans in FLORID

I need help in florida..I took out several payday loans and I am now caught in that payday loan trap. I have paid back several companies and I seem to have more out there. NOW, they call my work with threats of arrest and court proceedings telling me that they are taking me to court. I thought that they cant sue you for anything under $250 in the state of FL. They try telling me that I have to pay all the court costs and everytrhing else. NOW if I had the money to pay them back i would have already, how do they expect me to pay all the court fees also????I also understand that they cannot arrest you for this but why do the collections agency threaten that? How do I know if they say that they are an "agent"(law enforcement) or just a regular debt collections agancy? Some of them have said they they were some agent of some sorts.....What are the laws in florida for this type of situation?


Misslee, I have heard most of the bad collection agencies are located in FL. They love to go above the federal and state laws and scare people. I have learnt it everywhere that no one can be sent to jail for not paying a debt. The CA should also not use such threats during collections. You should report these actions of the CAs to the attorney general office and the FTC.

First, get the details of the debt in writing from the collection agency that proves their genuine collections. Don't fall into their prey if their practice is illegitimate. Perhaps, it's an easy way to make some money by using scare tactics.

Is it true that you can only have 1 payday loan out at a time. From all me reading it seems like others out there are in the same boat. 1 collector used that against me and threatened to come into my work and take my computer...They keep calling my job and home, it got so bad i took the phone off the hook. i am so confused...
