...and last, is it legal for the sheriff or anyone else to send me a post card in regards to a lawsuit ...and why haven't i received anything from the court ?

I don't know about the legality of that beacuse I haven't heard of that before. I would check iwth my court clerks office and make sure that a judgement wasn't filed without you knowing it.
I know ther are some strange ways to deliver, but a postcard?? I hope you still have it!

If a judgement had been filed, would not I have received a letter or some notice from the court ? If in fact ajudgement has been filed, can I not ask the judgement to be dismissed because I have not been properly served ?

When you called the number, was it from the post card or your actual sheriff's office. I highly doubt that a sherif's office will send a post card telling you to come pick up a summons.

I agree--this sounds very unusual to me. i would call the sheriff's office directly and ask them if this is how they notify people that a summons has been issued for them or not. Sounds quite strange to me. Call the number for the sheriff's office in the phone book.
you dont happen to still have that post card, do you? I hope so--if this was bogus, then you could get some clues from the phone number on that card. Something sounds fishy to me.
also, in the meantime, you need to contact the court clerks office in your county ASAP--and find out if anyone has ever sued you there. They will be able to provide the whole docket for your review, and you will be able to see how the plaintiff claims they had you served. I would do that first thing, just to make sure. Check your credit reports too, if you dont find anything from the court clerk--they may have sued you in a different county and it could be on your report as a judgment against you. Then, you would know where to do the looking. As a side note, if they sued you in a different county, that is against the law--in a debt collection lawsuit, they can only sue you in the county where you live or in the county where the debt itself was originated.
are you sure it was a post card and not a buisness card? was it
are you sure it was a post card and not a buisness card? was it left or mailed? it could have been that you missed delivery and they left you the card to make arrangements to serve you. I would def call the sheriff's office and ask to speak to the office manager (or chief clerk). the officers serve the papers but clerical does the paper work and often knows more about the procedures.
